I checked my mpg last year once, and got 8mpg. I will never check it again. I just doesn't matter, if it got 3 I would still drive it. I only put around 500 miles on this year, cheap thrill in my book! Now the parts I buy to keep it running hurt the wallet a bit.

My '81 is getting around 22mpg on the highway (don't want to think about city driving :D ). It's getting better mpg than my GF's MGB!!!! NB Brit gallons are bigger than US gallons - but that's only to ensure that we get bigger pints of beer :jester ).
Gerry: Do you have the composite rear spring? If so, do the Konis work well with it?
I'd been watching it because my gas gauge isn't accurate and I don't know where "empty" is. I'd drive 100 miles (+/- 2) and put in 5 gallons (+/- .25)
HOWEVER.....
If I put my foot in it ONCE in that 100 mile period it will be greatly affected. After a 70 mile period of almost exclusive hard driving I was in single digits.
This is perfect for me. Doesn't waste gas until I tell it to. :D
My plane gets 8 gallons per hour @ $2.50/gallon, other plane I fly does 20gph and my buddy's L-39 Albatross(T-33) does 330gph of Jet Fuel at $2.20/gal.
