4sp shifter in the rain.
As I was driving home in the rain last week, I noticed that the
shifter was much easier to shift into gears.
Is this indicative of wear of the transmission?

That's a new one to me. Was the temperature a lot warmer or cooler? Humidity?

Just guessing, but I suppose the water might be acting as a lubricant on the linkages. Sounds like you need to lube those puppies.

Most of us dont drive our vetts in the rain anymore. But when I was using them as daily transportaton and needed to drive in the rain, I noticed the same effects. I also believe that the water acted as a lubrication.

Thanks - I'm surprised though, the difference in shifting is large.
I will lube the linkages to see what it does...
Daily drivers go in the rain, sun, etc. Always fun...

Gotta think back to school here (so long ago that I could be wrong). Water has a high surface tension (those droplets stick to your hood even at 55 mph) and oil floats on water (lower density). The water sticks to the linkages keeping the oil where it belongs providing better lubrication.
You could either need more lubricant, or a better lubricant.
