Hello everyone. I recently bought a 1970 Corvette with a 454 and 4 speed transmission. The guy I bought it from had done a lot to hot rod the engine and replaced the rear end with a ratio somewhere in the 4's so the thing really jumps off the line. However, I don't know if anything was ever done to the transmission and whats weird is that when I'm spinning about 2,000-2,500 RPMs in 1st and the go to 2nd gear, it suddenly ramps up to about 3,000-3,500 RPMs. Does anyone know what might be going on or have the same issue? I have a pretty basic understanding of cars but I just don't feel like this is normal.

You need to provide the gear, the vehicle speed and the Rpm. We will need one data point for each gear. Also, does the engine stay at 3500 RPM or does it drop to a lower RPM
check the shift rods. he could have the 1rst and 2nd shift arm upside down. He may have set it up for drag racing or something
1 and 2 reversed is all I can think of. Are you in contact with the PO? Did you test drive the car before purchasing it? Is there a custom **** or plate indicating a non-standard shift pattern? Perhaps post a photo of your shift levers underneath the car.
