On my 78 sometimes when I go to get in it the digital clock display is on. This is the original radio. I am wondering if this is a short going to the radio or is it just the radio going bad.
I have no idea, but I would think the clock stays on all the time. So when you say the display is on do you mean you can see the time. I would thik this is normal, but try checking the owners manual. All the clock redio combos I have heard of have two power sources, one thru the ignition for the radio and one always hot for the clock and the radio presets.
Ummm...there were no Delco digital radios in '78, so that can't be the original radio -- look in your Owner's Manual to see what you actually would have had. (My '79 came with the "original" digital radio too, and a quartz clock -- neither is original). I'll bet there's a loose wire back in there somewhere.
Most of the time the clock display stays off when the ignition is off. That's why I thought I may have a short or maybe as old as the radio is it is going out. It doesn't say anything in the manual about the clock staying on after the ignition is turned off. Thanks anyway. :flag
I talked to the original owner of the car who said it was the original. In fact he was a chevy salesman and ordered it late in 78. It is also the AmFm with cassette that came out in 79. :)

I have a digital in my 78 Pace Car that everyone keeps telling me could not be original. But everything else on the car is original. I think it is original also, just looking for someone to confirm it. :)
