Default Probably a stupid question .

When using a stall converter say 3000 . Is there more stress on the drive train when bringing it up to 3000 and sitting there or when you you take your foot off the brake and stomp on it . Always wondered about this . I blew both half shafts once had it up to around 3000 and as soon as i stomped on it all I heard was parts breaking car coasted about 15 feet when I hit the gas ,Tore both u-joints out at the wheels and twisted the half shafts . Had to get my car towed 50 miles on a Sunday .

Higher stall torque convertors allow the engine to get up to a higher rpm where they are making more torque and they also are a torque multiplier, so yes, you are putting a lot more torque through the driveline when you go WOT than you would with a stock low rpm convertor.

Stomping your foot to the floor from an idle should be more of a shock on the drive train then slowly power braking it up to 3000rpm. It can depend on how well the tires hold traction.

Spinning the tires and hitting something in the road like a pothole or big stress crack or a sewer cover can shock the drive train pretty badly too.

That was years ago that I broke everything . I haven't brake torqued it much in a long time , don't really need to found a tuner that 's really made my car run . Brake torquing was the only way I could get the tires to spin a little , now it will smoke them leaving at around 1200 rpm .
