What is involved in changing the #4 rear body mount on a 1977. If the bolt comes out will the new mount slip in or does the body need to be raised
You should be able to do it without too much trouble...IF(and this is a BIG FAT IF)...the cage nuts in the rear interior wells hold up and allow you to remove the bolts. Most of the time those cage nuts break loose, spin free, and you end up having to cut the body mount bolts to get them out. If you end up having to go the "cut" route, you will still have to remove the upper part of the bolt...and that will still be held in place by the part of the "cage" that didn't break free. It's an all around fun job to be sure...bring your patience with you that day.
And yes, you will have to lift the body slightly for clearance to install the new mounts..
(I would suggest applying some penetrating oil to those nuts well before you plan on undertaking that task.)
Usually the cage rivets shear off, (I made a tool to fit over the cage to hold it from rotating on a long power bar for re-install, a section of square tube bubba'd to hold the nut on the side that was missing the cage)
If you trim off the short flange on the new mount (one with a single rivet hole) you can usually finagle the mount in without having to lift the body away. It's the one that goes towards the rear splash apron part of the body and you would need a lot of clearance to get it to slide up into there
