Default Windshield wiper arm posts

Now that my "new" wiper motor died after 5 months I have it pulled out. I took the grill and wiper door off as well and am thinking of trying to figure out a way to get the slop out of my wiper arm linkage. I have a question about the wiper arm posts. Once I get the arms off if I pull the posts
1. Will any fasteners fall out under the dash?
2. Are these posts sealed or just bolted to what looks like a backing plate and if removed will they need to be sealed up again?
3. Any other experiences taking the posts off and putting them back on.

Thanks!

I suspect that the fasteners are part of the backing plate as the bolts come up from the bottom and use nuts to hold the arm posts. I would say everything will stay in place and after reassembly, the nuts/threads will need to be resealed? This is from my '72 AIM which should be similar to your '71, what's pictured isn't really that clear but it does imply this.

Ya, I looked at my AIM too but like you said a lot of info is implied. I just don't want the studs to go kerplunk behind the dash then I'd have to take that out........again!
The only sealer I see to apply is on the studs for the vacuum door safety switch in my '71 AIM:

Seems the '71 AIM has a little more info than your '72 unless GM broke up this page into more than one in '72

I took the transmissions off for painting and left the plate behind (cleaned all the goop) that holes the studs
I don't believe they need to be sealed as the plate behind is what goes through, but if your want then put a small bead of sealer under the triangle and forget about it

Here's the plate inside the car

Thanks Mooser - I clearly shows that the plate is bolted separately than the transmission posts so they can be pulled without fear of the plate on the inside falling off. I can proceed.
