Default Chrome bumper repair replacement or whatever?

I want to get the bumpers on my 71 re chromed. They are in good shape except for the passenger side rear is a little bent. Any recomendations on who to go to, what to expect to pay? Will I need to replace the bent one or can I have it fixed?

Nu-Chrome in RI can fix it, but they get about $275 to triple plate a rear bumper plus what ever labor is needed to straighten it out.
They have a web site to check.

Search the archives I think there is a place in Virginia that has provided excellent rechroming service for several members.

Dear Mr Rat, :D

I used Hanlon Plating in Richmond VA for my bumpers. I had them done 4 years ago and they still look like new. His standard plating is nickel/chrome instead of copper/nickel/chrome triple plating. As long as your bumpers aren't deeply pitted and corroded, two step plating should be fine, and lots cheaper than triple. When I had mine done. he charged me $165 for the front (including a repair of a dent right on the nose), $110 for each rear, and $25 each for the front bumperettes. I imagine that his prices have risen in the last 4 years though. His number is 804-233-2021.

If you want triple plating, the least expensive shop I've found is TriCity Plating out of Elizabethown TN. Their website is http://www.tricityplating.com They used to keep Corvette bumpers in stock for core exchange, but it's worth a call to see if they still do so. They will be at the Raleigh AutoFest in mid-November, so if they have some available for exchange you could drive over and avoid shipping hassles.

Take it easy Wade,
Shannon

The best advise that I can give here is DONT BUY FROM BUMPER BOYS!!Last year I was restoring two 68s at the same time,so I ordered 2 complete sets of bumpers ,front and back.None of them fit good .They were driver quality at best. Both front bumpers were twisted.I have seen some repros lately in catalogs that are very reasonable.I think the manufacturer of these bumpers are Paragon.Sometimes they have blems on sale .Their blems usually have minor plating defects ,not fitting problems. :yesnod: :seeya
