72 gas petal does not return fully
My gas petal does not return completely (454). I have a tension spring beside the carburetor but looking underneath the dash I see what appears to be excess cable. I do not see a tension spring anywhere underneath. anyone have answers?
check for a broken bushing mount, if memory serves the cable is longer then has to be and each end is secured so that there can never be a depressed throttle due to a cable pull from body stretch on rough terrain. a lot of the time the cable ends have broken from age and the cable is allowed to pass though.
common problem, the metal rod attached to the gas pedal gets bent, allowing slack and not opening the carburetor all the way,
rebend rod, or replace , better yet weld reinforcement bar onto gas pedal rod.
