Default Adjustable Strut Rods / 77

Hello All,

Looking to replace my OE style strut rods on my 77 with adjustable type. Anyone have any problems with going to the adjustable type and also I see a few different styles and one better than the other?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,
Sig77

I have the heim joints as well. If you do get them, I would recommend some end covers as well. I decided on them after reading about how the poly bushings aren't good for rotational and angular movement combined because of its stiffness, and the strut rods end up getting twisted. I'm sure there are guys that haven't had a problem with the poly adjustable struts. I agree that the heim joints did not make the ride any rougher.

If you are go with adjustable strut rods (I have VB&P on my 77) definitely go with heims. I originally didn't and later changed them out (nothing like doing the job twice!). I haven't been sorry. Suggest you shop the Parts for Sale section, buy used and replace whatever ends you get with heims (got my ends from RUFF STUFF SPECIALTIES).

PolyE from Ecklers lasted less than 3000 miles . Control rod bushings crumbled . Installed heims from Corvette Central and have had no problems. I don't feel a hard ride . The vette pulls around corners.

I put the poly adjustable ones on my car back in the 90's. (Also a 77). I have had the replace one of the poly bushings. after a track day about 7 years ago. I agree the heim joint ones should be better, but back when I bought mine hadn't even heard of them. And they still work fine. Much easier to get camber set perfectly than with the stock eccentric setup that moves every time you tighten the nut.
