Just finished watching it. I understand why he is more famous for star wars then for corvette summer. But, it was a nice little movie. Poor kid, no "family", doesn't care about school, only cars about "his" corvette. Overall i would give the movie a 8 out of 10. its a must see for your C3 ers. Makes me want to run out to the vette and start working on it. I didn't like the nose and hood before, but after seeing a good front shot of it driving down the road, it doesn't look half bad. Wouldn't do it to mine, but i would put the flares on the wheels. Those are phat. Thats enough of my ramblings. Just conclude with, its a good little flick and if you haven't seen it, its worth watching.
This is the movie with the Star Wars guy...right? I think I had to strap myself in the seat at the theatre to actually watch all of it. We have a name for what they did to that car, but it's politically incorrect to say it and my rating would go from 100% to ZERO.
Better to watch Gumball Rally and see some normal-bodied racers than that gross abomination. At least my taste hasn't changed in all these years...I thought that Vette was ugly when I first saw it and I think it's even uglier now! :U

Re: Anyone watch Corvette Summer? (Dep)
Remember back, a long time ago, in cable land far far away. Speedvision I think it was called, changed its name to Speed, that is just short for nascar tv. Speedvision used to play Corvette Summer and Two Lane Blacktop and many other cool car movies.
Eddie: I think they still do that on Saturday evenings. They call it "Drive-In Movies" or something like that. I saw Two Lane Blacktop on there as well as Vanishing Point. I read the story Two Lane Blacktop in Playboy but had never seen the movie. The story was much better than the movie.
BTW....the 55 Chevy in Two Lane Blacktop is the SAME 55 Chev driven by Harrison Ford in "American Graffiti". And it's powered by a 454 :D
Vanishing Point was the story about the guy driving the Dodge Challenger
and evading all the roadblocks.
I saw it back when I was about 7 and thought it was the baddest car I had seen since Smokey and the Bandit...hey, like I said, I was 7. I still like Smokey and the Bandit though:D
If you want to see the car (the original; real deal) from the movie, it is at My Garage at Mid America in Efinngham, IL. The owner of Mid America owns it as well as numerous other really rare Vettes. :chevy :chevy :chevy :chevy
gliot1: Does it still look as silly now as it did then? Like a Star Wars X-Wing fighter that had wheels put on it for the street. Maybe that's why they picked Luke Skywalker for the lead role :p:
Steve Adkins: Rent Gumball Rally or Two Lane Blacktop. At least you won't get queasy looking at the cars in those movies. :chevy
I love the vette in "death race 2000"
Now that was a good movie!
