Intake port gasket leaks are not uncommon any time you install the intake. Oil can get sucked in the port and you would see it in the port at disassembly. Plugs would be fouled on the cylinders burning oil.

Stock valve stem seals have a limited lifespan (7 or ? years) before they dry out and begin to fail. You get blue puffs of smoke at start up. Easy and cheap to replace.

Better to upgrade heads if you have the resources. It is the best mod you can make on this engine. The rest of the pieces are a solid foundation.

Well my engine smokes a little on start but, it's very minimal I can barely see it but the amount of consumption is pretty substantial. (1qt every 100miles) That's what made me do a compression test and I got 190psi so I assumed it was valve stem seals. But I was told thats a little more oil than valve stems usually burn so that made me think maybe intake. I am getting oil buring to some extent In every cylinder. So that the main reason I was wanting to up grade heads to just fix all possiblitys but I don't know if any one else has had a similar problem.

That sounds like piston rings not valve seals.
Have you considered a budget crate motor from summit or similar. I think a non high performance crate motor can be as low as $2000 shipped. Kind of a missed opportunity to upgrade but gets you back to “daily driver” status.

190 PSI is pretty substantial. Not sure that is right. Seems high to me.

Pop off a valve cover and see if you still have the metal umbrella shields on the valve springs. If you still have the shields, I would try replacing the O-rings first. If the shields are gone, you will need different seals like the rubber umbrellas at the least.

I would do that first and see if it gets better. Very low cost and time. It would be nice to have a screw down type valve spring compressor and a length of clothes line for the job.

I also thought 190 psi was high but we checked multiple times cause of this but I got it everytime, even with different gauges. That's why I don't think it's rings and I have taken the valve covers off to look at the seals and the metal ones are there.
