Default Headlight plug question

I am putting the headlight plugs on my 69.
When I plug the connector onto the headlight bulbs
they seem to fit fine, but when I look at them they don't
seem to go far enough down for the center wire to reach
whatever it should hit
The new plugs look just like the old ones
Here are some pics

Is something wrong here?

looks like the pic in your hand the left hand contact and skewed to wrong side. I would use some contact cleaner spray to clean contacts up

Check that the connector inside the housing is facing the right direction, your old socket appears to be correct. There are stop tabs on the prongs of the bulb, your crimp connector may be there.

The center one is fiber optic cable and not an actual wire. They usually have a foam tube type seal to help contain the light for transmission back to the console.

note the glass tube -
