Need advice on a 74 front bumper cover I’m in need of one
I used the OEM urethane cover ordered (a bit less than a year ago) through my local Chevy dealer for my 1973. Surprised me that it was still available. Yeah, it cost more ($900 before tax and no shipping cost), although a bit less than from any of the common vendors. That was a discounted price from list ($1,035), which was offered without my asking. I purchased the car new in '73, so I've been through the cover replacement process before this recent one. Figured OEM was my best chance for something that fit with no modifications to body or bumper cover.

A Truflex will probably MOSTLY fit better than a rigid fiberglass. Almost certainly it will require sanding and/or filling in areas of the body, which will require painting at the same time as the bumper.
C3 bodies were pretty much hand made and no two are alike. This means that no bumper, including urethane, is going to fit perfectly out of the box. I believe that using a truflex bumper can usually produce the best appearance with the least effort.
