A search found nothing for me, so...
When installing new Windshield Header & Side Post Trim, I want to install the screws into the same holes, choosing not to weaken or make the frame Swiss cheese-like.
Was thinking of using a grease pencil element or maybe a shortened sharp screw stud, placed in the existing holes so as to protrude out a quarter inch or so, and then positioning the new trim piece into place and rapping it firmly so as to mark or indent the trim, then drilling there outward.
This seems to me to be my only choice, as the old trim is a bit different in size from the new, and the holes in the frame may not match up correctly with the new trim having the old trim's holes..
I'm just wondering how people here do this.
The Trim.
If someone believes I can drill a hole in the trim perfectly aligned with the hole in the frame, they are over estimating my ability.
I guess I'll drill a hole in the trim where it should be, and then hope it fits the way it should fit when the screw's attached.
Take a screw with head cut off and ground to a point. Screw it partway in. Heat screw with propane torch. Press trim onto hot screw. Now you have mark to drill.
Put a little light oil around the hole area. Take a small ball of clay and stick it to the back of the new trim. Press the trim into place. Pull it off and, if the oil kept the clay from sticking to the metal, you should have a pretty good idea.

Excellent idea as well. Just the stuff I was lookin' for!
