Prices have really dropped.
I met a fellow forum member today at Grand Bend race track. He is thinking about selling his C3 ('69 bb NOM) and will be asking @ 12k US. He plans on keeping his C5. A few of the guys were telling me of vettes that were in their local clubs that 2 years ago would have easilly sold for in excess of $25k US and are lucky to get half of that. Lets hope this economy starts to turn so everyone can get back to work, start to get ahead and keep their vettes. :cheers:

There is a 77 in todays paper (Scaramento Bee) that runs, but it needs a driveline. They are asking 2500.00 obo and another 77 that needs minor work for 3500.00.

I interviewed a fellow from Alcatel last week. Came to Canada from a Far East country at the height of the dot.com craze. Computer line assembly work, quality control. Bought a lovely but modest home and set up his family in this country. Life was grand! But high ratio mortgage, etc. Was given one-day notice of lay-off. Desperate now to make $10.00/hr to keep his home and family together. And away from food banks. Not too many Porsches in this town these days: they have been re-possessed. So who would go for a Corvette? Much less an old one?

I saw an ad last night for a '73, recently fully restored.
It had some light damage to the right front.
It was a 4-speed with sidepipes - for $7200 !!

People's stocks are way down, unemployment is on the rise, yup if you have $ it is a great time to sit back and let the right deal come to you. Everything is cyclical and hopefully we are within 10% of this bottom. I am looking at a 90's ZR1 at this point in time, I figure that my wife deserves one as well but it has to be an auto for her.

I can't say the prices are dropping around here. A few weeks ago I looked at a '69 NOM SB, 4sp convertible, new paint, sos-so interior, & no power....$12,500. It was a private owner & I offered him $10 but he said he'd die first. I said where's the noose? :lol:
Last week a looked at a '71 in a dealer's lot. The guy caters to upscale used car buyers....ooopppss I mean previously owned. :D It's a '71 Vert, claims matching #'s, auto 100,000mi, interior & top are perfect. The paint is probably the worst part of the car but the lot owner claims it requires only minor touchups! It's got cracks, dents and in one area it's chipped down to the primer. The lot owner tells me that in Carlisle this year, this Vette would have gone for a lot more than the $14,599 he's asking.
I wiped the slim from myself & walked away.
