Throttle Body Rebuild
It finally got cool enough for me to work in the garage and start my long overdue '82 Crossfire Throttlebody rebuild. I'm just cleaning and replacing gaskets and O-rings so hopefully the fuel injection will still work at least as good as before the disassembly. My question has to do with the parts in the rebuild kit. If I had instructions I can't find them so I'm relying on my factory manual which doesn't do much to describe the differences between the two throttlebodies. This forum has been a great resource, but I only got one fuel injector filter in the ACDelco kit and both of my fuel injectors are filtered. Pictures of rebuild kits I've seen on line also only show one filter. My gut feeling is to just leave the existing filter in place. Does anybody have a helpful comment? Thanks.

I replaced both injectors on my 82 a couple years ago, the only fuel filter I have changed was under the car by the passenger side. The front injector is not the same as the rear,so don't mix them.

Right. Not the main fuel filter. Each injector on my car has a small mesh filter and o-ring that fits over the pointy end inside of the injector mount. The two throttlebody kit I got provided one. Just wondered if that was normal.

I just looked at the shop manual and they only showed one throttle body drawing, showing that filter (front one), I think they shorted you on a filter.. I would probably clean out one of your old filters with brake cleaner and a air compressor and use it.. There are a few other crossfire owners here that might have better advice.. Good luck..

We just completed an Xfire TBI rebuild and the kit had 2 new injector screens. I would follow the advice above and clean the best of the 2 you have and reuse.
Unless you bought it local and can get a replacement quick/easily...........................

Thanks for the replys. Both filters screens were clean so I left the drivers side in place and reassembled them. Hopefully any ethanol based fuel I put through it woun't have caused any deterioration. I only run ethanol free now.
