Default Manual heater valve

I got sick of baking in my c3 in traffic. Set up a manual heater valve. Then I got sick of pulling over to open the hood and switch the valve so I got a push pull cable. I installed in place of a somewhat useless passenger side vent control ****. And before anyone asks , yes I drilled a new hole in the firewall and no I did not use a grommet.

That's the best set-up I've seen yet ! It definitely looks automotive.

Some of those shut-off valves look like they belong on a washing machine or a hot water heater (i e, not cool, if it came from Home Depot)

Looks just like the Napa one I've been using for the last 10 yrs, no issues with it.

That's a cool fix. I like that. I have mine completely bypassed, this is a better solution.

Unrelated but possibly helpful, do you get any ignition misfires with your cables held together with a zip-tie like that?

I didnt know that was a thing. Good to know. I will install a comb shaped wire holder in place of the zip tie.

I dunno man, but I'm thinking that **** either needs a little white circle on it or possibly some kind of heater symbol to finish out the installation

Nice!
I have the simple water valves under the hood, and for about $10 more you made a way better solution.

How much pressure on that **** is needed to open/close the valve?
Can I assume you planning to put some RTV or something to seal the firewall?

Greengear-
As long as we're asking unrelated questions.... do you have any issue with overheating plug wires with the ramhorn manifolds? I ask because I am going to ramhorns from headers at the present time.

It is easy to pull in and out. I made sure to make as straight a run as possible to avoid binding.

it opens a door inside a the kick panel. Ive tried moving it several times but it doesnt seem to do anything apprecable to me while driving. I can see an air door move behind the kick panel when I move the **** to and fro but I cant tell what it is meant to do. Possibly fresh air inlet?

When I did this mod the forum made sure I knew that the only proper way to do it was with 2 valves to ensure zero hot water got to the core.

Driving all around the Seattle area I’ve never had the heat on one time.
