OK. I know this sounds elementary, but since I'm doing this for the first time....
I'm in the process of a cam/lifter swap on my 77. While I'm trying to pull the lifters out, they seem to get stuck about 1/2 way up. Am I missing something obvious? Is there a trick here to getting the lifters out?
brewvette,
When I did mine a couple months ago once I got ahold of them they came right out. I had a couple hang up and I slowly twisted them out as I pulled them up. Beside that, not sure what else it could be.
you can grab them with vice grips, but don't force them, if its not varnish, and they are mushroomed on the bottom, you could damage the lifter bore and cause yourself grief. it they wont come out through the valley, unfortunatley the only other way is out the bottom.
