Had a fine cold start on a 40 degree morning and an rasy ride to work. While warming up on a 49 degree day to go to lunch after 4 hour cool down, after two easy pumps on accelerator pedal to release the choke some, my tach dropped to 0 and just quit. Any guesses to why or what I can check?

Tach quite or the engine died? Tachs mechanical so...
1. Check connection at distributor
2. check connection at tach
3. Is inner cable broke? Disconnect at distributor ans spin by hand. Does tach needle move?

I had mine snap for no good reason, just disconnect it at the distributer and twist it. You'll be able to tell if its snapped. You can buy just the interior cable but you will need to disconnect it at the tach to get the other end out. Its and easy solve but you need to check the length.
