One more question: Did you put any fuel filter pre or post fuel pump? I have everything ready to go, I just needed to know if it should get any filters for pre and post filter
I have the in-tank pump so I couldn't put a pre but I do have a post pump filter.

yes you should have pre/post filters, 10/100 micron if I remember correctly

Default 1973 corvette with electronic ignition

I would like to install an hydro spark into my 1973 corvette but I was worried about my tachometer not working. I thought I needed a CORVETTE TACH drive distributor https://www.holley.com/products/igni...let/parts/8572

did you have any advice? Does your tach work?

To go Hyperspark, you will need an electronic tach. They make stock looking replicas. I went with this one because I liked the numbers more.
With this it is just a single wire that comes off the ECU into the tach.

The only question I would have is if you plan on having the Sniper control your timing? If so, you will not be using the vacuum advance on your distributor.

Hi Scott,
yes that is my goal. I thought this was my work to avoid replacing the tach. But it looks like options are dwindling...

I just installed a vintage Air and I’m putting in the electric fan dewitts rad next week. The timing would be my trifecta!

so in order to have the sniper control timing I’ll need the hyper-spark distributer (something like) and the (recommenced) updated tach?

wait: what if I used the tach I linked and just didn’t hook up the vacuum advance?

If you don't hook the vacuum advance up, that's fine. It will work. That would be the most cost effective way to go.
I keep wanting to tell you I will send you my electronic tach (since I converted to Dakota Digital gauges) but mine is a 68. I doubt if it would fit. If it will fit, you can have it for free.

I was looking at those gauges! Very nice!

https://www.dakotadigital.com/index....od/prd1095.htm

But I think after the vintage air$$ and the dewitts rad $$$I believe my wife would kill me if I went with new gauges.

Thanks for the offer in the tach. my advice: Put that joker on eBay and make some money! I upgraded my SSBC brakes with Baer brakes last summer and almost gave the mechanic the old brakes. But decided to see if I could make some money selling the SSBC’s... It’s a little *** pain but it’s not hard. Just include postage into the price. If it didn’t work you can still give it away.

Does your old 68 tack look like the stock tach face? If it does I'll buy it from you. I have a MSD with the tach drive buy I want to go to a Holley Sniper EFI next winter.....

Yeah I've been side tracked with other activities so I haven't gotten around to it. I need to do that because I don't want the gauges to go to waste.

Just for the EFI system right?
All in all I would say about $2500-$2600

I also like that I run my cooling fans from my EFI now. I staggered their turn on/off temps to I don't have both running all the time since that is not needed.
Also, I drive a lot of data into my Dakota gauges directly from the EFI (Water temp, Fuel pressure, AFR, RPM, Throttle position) because it uses less wires and it is all synced together.
(I did not include the cost of the gauge stuff in the price above)

Hey Scott you mentioned throttle plate timing issues. Are you running it on a single plane or a dual plane? Im reying to figure out how theplates being synchronized is read by the Sniper or if it a fuel flow issue backing up on the plate or something. I think mine are very close

Are you talking about my manifold? It is a performer which is dual plane but it has a 1/2" cut out of the top, so it works fine.
You can see it in this picture

I just recently purchased the hyperspark components to go with my sniper EFI. The biggest problem I must overcome is the placement of the coil. I had an HEI dizzy before, coupled with the MSD box. So, my coil was in the distributor cap. Now I need some mounting ideas for the new coil. I have a highly modified electrical system, but the more ideas / pictures may give me a solution. I have a lot of wires running along my firewall, so, space and electrical interference may be an issue. Any suggestions, the more the merrier?

KT

Here is my engine compartment minus the HEI distributor - it's being replaced by the hyperspark distributor.
