I was looking at the different shocks and their is a big range on price. I'm going to go with those Grand Touring (460bls) springs and a fiberglass spring(330bls) in the rear. I'm putting in the Steeroids kit also. Which shocks should a get with that set-up? Do I need to spend $400 on shocks or will the cheaper sets work just as good?
With the work your doing to your car, it sort of cries for Bielstein's or another high quality shock. If you are looking for pretty good shocks that have respectible performance then the Delco Reactrec shocks are pretty good. They are about $30-$35 each, I have them on my car and they seem to be pretty good, certainly better than the crappy Rancho shocks that were on the car.
I think Zip sells the Delcos for around $120 per set of four. With the 10% discount available until 10/31 from Zip it might be the time to buy shocks from them. I think they have real performance shocks also, so check them out on the Restoration Store Tab at the top of the page.
The Code to enter for the 10% discount is buried somewhere here in the recent forum posts. I just can't remember it. I went back and looked it is Zip-10.
There is a place on the order form for discount codes.
I have the "special" KYB GR-2 shocks ($29.95 each) from Vette Brakes for use with my plastic rear spring. They work much better than the shocks that were on the can when I bought it which were VERY bouncy.
