Do I understand this to mean the block I have (14093638) will take a roller or a flat tappet cam ?

Hey the difference in the cam is one is a flat(standard) hydraulic and the roller is a roller/ hydraulic lifter which means you have a hydraulic on the top of the lifter and a roller on the bottom . The advantage of this is you can have a steeper entrance and exit ramp on the lobe of the cam , meaning you will have a quicker rpm response and have a longer opening time forth same duration compared to a flat hydraulic cam. The block number 14093638 is a 89-93 tbi( throttle body injection) used with flat or roller lifter cam. 1 piece rear main seal use high swirl port head. The cylinder heads you mentioned were 10088113 I'm assuming this is a typo the number I found for these years would be 1088113 which is a aluminum cylinder head that is used in 88-89 on mpi ( mutiport injection) like corvette/camaro tune port injection this is a great head for low rpm to about 4500/5500 it uses a roller/hydraulic cam. See note never use a flat hydraulic lifter on a roller hydraulic cam. Intake is one of those mysteries. Gm developed a lot of intakes for a lot of,reasons. If this is a create motor it could be made for a certain use like off road. Or a special application in mind but not labling it for hp rating . Sort of like some of the early intake for the ls1 for carburetor use (off road) I hope this helps

And yes you can use either hydraulic flat cam or a roller hydraulic cam in this block and head. Comp cam is and excellent source to talk to for your application on which cam to use. You can't mix and match flat/hydraulic and roller hydraulic cam and related parts. Need more help pm me back I will try to help. I will try to do more research on the intake. Is it carburetor, tbi, or multi port intake? I would assume carbiretion. Let me know

the 88-up it the years they were used in service. 350 means it was used on a 350 cubic inch engine. 1.94 means it came with a 1.94 inch intake valve. 1.5 inch is the exhaust valve size. Angle plug means the spark plug is located at an angle instead of straight in. 58cc is the size of the chamber. That is the area above the piston in the head called the chamber. The smaller the chamber the higher the compression ratio. Aluminum , ports are raised .100 and has a D port on the exhaust side. In a nut shell this is a good factory head.

Yes I can see these block and head combo used in a crate motor Like a ZZ4 motor. Your intake number is one used in the Gmpp book back then for people to use a carb with the tune port corvette motor. If case you wanted the latest performance on but able to wire up the tune port aspect of the engine. Mostly for a create motor for a carburetor use.

This could be a very early ZZ crate engine.......the block and heads are correct for it. The intake is a Bowtie replacement Z/28/Vette LT-1 intake......excellent piece and bowtie street cred......this ancient design will run neck and neck with a RPM Air-Gap or non-air gap.........although I can't remember if the first ZZ crate engines used this or not........I don't think the Edelbrock cast Bowtie unit was available yet.
