1976 vette manual regulator
I am preparing to put my window regulator assembly and glass back in the door. The spring was taken off to get all the parts thoroughly clean. I am not sure of the proper position the spring and gear should be in prior to re installation. Is there any preload on the spring. Any pics would be helpful. Thanks.
Mike

Hope this helps you... I think the service manual has the loading instructions but you can probably figure this out just from the picture. I'm not in my office so I don't have the service manual here to look at.
Maybe someone else will post more info for you.

Secure the regulator in a vice.
Have a helper put downward pressure on the left side
Remove the NUT and BOLT.
Unwind clockwise.
Put the center of the spring on the PIN.
Turn arm counterclockwise to put LOAD on the spring.
Insert BOLT and NUT.
Pete... it's been so long since I did a manual regulator but I don't think you have to bolt it down, I believe the back tension on the crank will hold it in place unlike that of a power window motor. I'm going to talk with Kevin tomorrow in my shop, he's the regulator builder here and I've got plenty of used and the service manual... but I don't believe you have to bolt it down like the power window cars.
