On an MSD distributor.....any idea how to remove it/install the new can? I removed the 2 retaining screws. How does the pickup plate get lifted up to allow the advance rod to come out? Do I need to completely disassemble the dizzy?
I could be wrong, but I don't believe you have to take it apart. There was a trick to it. Maybe rotating the plate C.W. just enough to clear the rod end.
Up date edit: I believe it was someone on this forum that wrote, if you apply vacuum to the canister with a pump, it helps clear the rod assembly just enough to remove the unit. Same way going back in.

I've done it this way with dist still installed. I use 90 deg tips on the snap ring pliers. Align the gap in the snap ring under one of the reluctor vanes to have enough space to open the snap ring.
