Default 1978 Corvette Hooker side mount header Questions??

I have a 1978 with a/c. I just bought the 2224-3hkr Stainless side mount headers and was wondering how you mounted your side pipes with the smaller ac compressor??

How does it mount because I believe the stock mount is bolted onto a stud on the headers I have now.

PLEASE POST PICS of yours and help anyway you can! thank you

On my 79, I ended up turning a piece of 304 into a spacer the correct length and using a bolt long enough to engage most of the threads in the aluminum head. If you don’t have access to a lathe, you may be able to get away with using a piece of 3/8-16 threaded rod bottomed out in the head as a stud and using a flanged nut on the header to hold that and then a washer/nut on each side of the AC bracket and see how that looks/works.

Do you remember how big/size the spacer and bolt is?

I purchased ARP 1" header bolts and Mr. Gasket Ultra Seal header gaskets.

I can’t recall the exact length but I think somewhere around 3 3/16 length with a 13/32 through hole. Bolt I think was 4.25 but I had to modify threads for the engagement I liked.

Thank you. I will have to try and come up with something like that. I hope the install goes easily with my Borgeson system I am installing first.

No problem, good luck. If I had more of the material I would make you one and ship to you but I only have about 3/4” left. I also used the arp bolts.

I have a similar spacer on my headers on my 79 with A/C. While mine came on my car when i bought it, I sure do think I've seen one for sale somewhere. You might try a google search to see if you turn one up.
