Was wondering if the 70' LT1 vette came with 2.5 in. exhaust. If in fact
it did was there a clearance problem when the pipes went through
the holes in the crossmember? My muffler shop recommended 2.25 in.
pipe, saying that 2.5 in. were too large for the crossmember and would
vibarate under load.
thanx wade
70-72 LT-1 cars should have had 2.5" exhaust from the factory. I have a 2.5" chambered exhaust on my '72 LT-1 and it's routed through the crossmember holes with no issues.
Hi Wade.
I have a 350/350 '70 and my brother just came back from Novia Scotia on vacation...that makes us.. like...brothers or something. Seriously, I don't know the answer but an old friend of mine has a '72 LT1. I'm not sure if it's the same design but I could ask him if he knows (I just got to find him). Send me an email if you get no response.
1970 LT-1 is 2 1/2 and fits well through the frame crossmember. I have NO ground clearance issues. It does reduce down to fit the factory exhaust tips, and does start smaller.
