Identify transmission

I have an 81 C3 and am wondering how I can identify which transmission it has in it. It's a factory 4 speed car but it doesn't have the original engine (has a small journal 327) so I'm not sure it has the original Borg Warner Super 10 transmission either. If I crawl under it, where am I looking for identifying marks?
