Anyone in here swapped a C3 with an LT4/C7Z trans? Or maybe swapped in an LS with twins? Very curious to see how the build went and if there are any of these type of builds for sale at the moment.
It's been done. Not sure about LT, but a few here have gone LS. You won't see many, because it's not exactly an easy mod to perform on a C3 Corvette, unlike a Chevelle or even a Nova. The C3 Corvette has a really small engine compartment, compared to the other Chevy siblings and there's also the narrow trans tunnel to mod, along with the dash to accept the modern electricals. Fitting two turbo's underneath would likely necessitate a new hood, because most aftermarket intakes, won't even fit under the stock hood of a C3. Not trying to discourage you from doing it, but my favorite line to ask a fellow C3 owner about taking apart the dash is: "Would you rather take apart the dash, or have a colonoscopy?".
Believe it or not, a stock C3, with a few typical small block mods, along with the factory four speed, is a helluva lot of fun to drive. Nothing wrong with having a carb. My Holley carb and MSD ignition have never failed me, in five years of owning it. The clutch is a mechanical Z-bar linkage, versus a modern hydraulic clutch with no pedal 'feel'. It's kind of fun, having a primitive beast. The four speed shifter takes a whole arm and is highly satisfying. Starting it: get in it, pump the gas three times to the floor, hold the gas pedal down a half inch to open the blades on the carb and it fires right up. Read the sticky at the top of the C3 General Forum "Ten Rules for Buying Your First C3 Corvette" is an absolute must, before you buy one. The C3's don't sit around very well, especially outside and are usually money pit monsters to bring back to life. And count on it, they always need 'something', it's just part of owning them. Good luck on your search.
