Folks, changed bird cage on 71, basket case, could someone send a pic of how seat belt attaches? the outboard seat belt, not sure if it is just a bolt in or if there is some sort of guide.
thanks

Hey autoalain

I replaced the carpet in my 1970 last summer: there is a single bolt and alignment pin.
Hope this is what you're looking for.

I don't have a picture handy on this but the outer one bolts to the floor under the seat. There is a bar near the sill that the belt goes under then through the carpet up to the seat. There is also a plastic cover that goes over the belt retracter on the floor. Should be in the assembly manual.

Here is the assembly manual picture. Clears it up a little. You can see the retractor and the bar and the cover all in this picture

I love the fact that we have the AIM for our cars. Makes things SO much easier. Probably the BEST purchase I made for my car.

OP has a 71 which only has lap belts. Retractors didn't start until 72.
The pic from 70 sting shows the bolt hole for the buckle end.
There's a similar mount point at the door sill for the belt.

That image is one from another forum member who goes by Alan71.
Alan owns the 71 vette in that image and if you search around the forum Alan was a regular poster and although I do not know of any thread that he created that held his images, he would respond to other users question, frequently with pictures from his restoration, on a very regular basis.
That said, Alan stopped posting in the spring of last year. Sometimes the forum can become a strange place and hopefully he just took a year off and will return at sometime. I know I took a year sabbatical a couple of years ago and it was a needed break/change

Ah. Missed the "from Alan71's stuff" quote. I'll search around. Thanks!

Any large group of people can become... interesting. I have several hobbies and I frequently need a break from them... :-)

EDIT: Hmmmmm it appears that there is no user by the name of Alan71 in the system anymore... I wonder if he deleted his account.... I'll browse the Red Corvette Thread...
