remove the hood
remove the engine fan
remove the radiator support bolts from both sides
loosen the radiator support bolts on the bottom
remove the front brace from the radiator support
if the car has AC other components in front of the radiator may have to be removed
remove all the fan shroud bolts and brackets
drain system and disconnect radiator hoses
tilt radiator support forward and remove radiator
may have missed some steps but this is pretty mush all of it

If I may add, it really is "best" to have 2 people lift out the radiator. I did mine myself and it was a bitch, heavier and awkward, lesson learned for me.

It is also recommended NOT to have anybody around who is offended by "colorful" language used in this procedure!!! Wife-kids- millennials...

If you plan on reusing the radiator or when you put in the new one in-

Cover and tape the radiator's fins with cardboard on both sides- as they are really easy to mess up in the tight quarters.

My wife helped me r&r the hood. She also helped me remove the radiator assembly as one unit.....her language wasn't that bad.

If you can get the car/nose up high enough you can take the radiator out from the bottom. That's how I prefer to do it. You don't need to remove the hood if you go that way. Follow the same instructions as above. You will need to remove the front crossmember that connects to the radiator support but that is very easy to do. Also there may be a front bracket brace that connects to the nose and rad support along with the u-brace. You will need to make sure you unbolt them from the crossmember as well. I have only done this on a 69 but I would think that the 72 should be very similar if not exactly the same. On my 69 there was also a ground wire attached to my rad support. I did it awhile ago so I am doing this by memory and my have also forgotten a step or two....
