imo you are wasting your time trying to quiet loud mufflers with an H or X pipe. they are good for fine tuning , not major changes.
get the right mufflers, perhaps summit turbo @ 14.99 each

I put my h pipe right under my manual transmission in front of the crossmember. I had the h-pipe installed after I already had flowmaster 40s and it helped the resonance but not nearly enough. I have tried flowmaster, magnaflow straight through, magnaflow xl turbo and even with an h-pipe it was way too loud. Have Dynomax super turbos now and they are awesome.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'm applying the lacquer soon and then driving around to see where I should weld in the H Pipe. Hopefully a reduction in popping and a little resonance will be noticed. Anyhow....Flowmasters wake the neighborhood when I leave in the morning at 6 a.m., but at least I'm giving them notice...in case they want to oogle over my vette.
