Dear VB&P: Some time ago there was a post asking about C5 brakes for a C3. You gave us the song & dance about how we don't really need it, how w/your callipers everything is good. Now that more of us are running 17" wheels, the need for bigger rotors and less unsprung weight from alloy callipers is needed more than ever. Are you going to supply such a kit? Will we have to make our own? The first person to make a a kit will sell several. Will it be VB&P? The market is there, the time is now!
IMO, to make the caliper brackets is easy, to do a changeover to another caliper is easy too...might even be one hell of an improvement....and maybe should be done...BUT....
to get someone to tool up and cast/machine a whole custom series of rotors....well that's another horse entirely...IMO....
I can't see giving up our superior 1/25 inch thick vented rotors for something that may be larger in diameter/area...but ony 7/8 inch thick or some such....NO IF VBP/anyone could get say the rotors off the C5/Caddy race cars at full 1.25 inch thickness.....well then I"d say IF they can be had cheap enough....well...yeh...I"d be interested myself.....
wonder what the chances of curing that Ebrake problem in the process would entail??? not much IMO.....
Just a thought, but what about the aluminum calipers offered by SS Brakes? I have thought about these to reduce the unsprung weight the O-ring calipers (from VB&P) currently place on my car. There is also a guy that makes adapters to use the Wilwood Dynalite II or something like that onto the C3. I do know that the current calipers, although heavier, do stop the car short. The other options I have mentioned above I have yet to test. Hope this helps!
