Found that I had a bad plug wire on one of the cylinders. Decided to replace plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor and ignition module. Upon completion of work, the car fired right up. Later that evening, I decided to take a test drive. While driving the car suddenly shut off, I thought it may have been a loose wire connecting to the coil. Got the car home, reinstalled original coil to see if it could have a coil issue, but same problem on next test drive. I have replaced the temperature sensor at the front of the engine, still had problem. Replaced fuel filter thinking I may have a restriction, nope. Last night, I installed the '85 fuel pump, still not the problem. The car will start right up, but now will only idle for a few minutes. I don't know what to do next, oil pressure switch, fuel pump relay or ECM, if I am even on the right track.
if that's a no-go & all pigtail connections verified & all wires verified no chafing against dist housing… next
replace distributor's pick-up assembly

Ended up putting the old ignition module, coil and cap back on. Everything was running good. I had installed an Accel coil and upon removal and putting back into the box, I noticed a note that it was not compatible with Corvette. I don't understand how a HEI coil could be different from one vehicle to the next.

Thanks for the responses.
Any suggestions for a coil?
Probably due to the fact that Vettes needed shielding at one time. Modern carbon core suppression resistor wires make this a non-issue.
Please make sure you have plenty of heat sink grease on the module....and that both surfaces are clean as a whistle before applying the grease.
Bad heat transfer can overheat a module easily.
