Default C-3 a/c

I am considering changing my A/C from R-12 to R-134a. I have purchased a new compressor & accumulator, what else will I need? Thanks

I'm assuming from your forum name that your C3 is a 77. If so, note that early 77's were built with a VIR (valve in receiver) system and later 77's used the current orifice system. IF you have the later system, you should change the orifice tube (search for recommendations), and replace your hoses with modern barrier hoses (R12 is composed of larger molecules than R134a. R134a will gradually leak out of the system through non barrier hose.) I would also consider replacing your OEM condenser with a multi-path condenser. It will improve the cooling and efficiency of your system. Finally, not to rain on your parade, I would consider using a Sanden 508 compressor, replacing the stock R4 ( do a search on both the R4 and the Sanden for more info)

My 77 had an early, VIR system. After some work and much frustration I replaced the entire system with one from Vintage Air, even though it required substantial modification (for info, please do a Forum search for the paper I wrote about my install.
