I have a 70 coupe that came w/o the rear window tray. I bought one that has a push button release similar to the jack/storage/battery door compartment. The 70 AIM does not show the push button. Did the general make different window tray assemblies 68-72?
I also need the hinges that attach to the tray. Any suggestion on where to get them. Zip lists them, but they are discontinued.
Hmmm. If yours is an original, GM must have made two different kinds. My '71 has a simple snap-in handle for the tray. It's a pull-to-release set-up, not a button latch. No suggestions on the hinge - sorry!
The earlier style - to about #12000 in 1971 - was a spring steel bracket that mounted to body with a bar with lettering on it. Pull the bar toward the front of the car to release the storage door.
The later style was a push button much like the buttons on storage compartment doors. The actual window storage door is different with the push button style, so I do not think there is any interchange between the two designs. This is what I have on my car and its a build #12882.
Try Paragon for your parts. I have seen some of the parts for the first design in some vendor's catalogs but can't remember all of them.
In the spring I'm planning on installing a removeable rear window in my 74. If you don't want you use the later style tray and want to sell it, let me know the price.
