1969 License Light and Fiber Optics
So, I’ve been working on repairing my alarm assembly (other thread) and now on to the license light and associated fiber optics. Here’s what I have right now...
My question is, is this loose fiber optic wire supposed to be attached to this light assembly through the empty hole? The rubber housing seems to have worn away...I’ve verified the loose fiber optic wire is transmissing light (shone a flashlight on it and saw it clearly in the wire leading to the trim plate). This pic of a repop assembly seems to show the orange wire as a fiber optic wire as well.
Not having much luck finding a decent schematic and am confused (yes...total noob) but any help would be appreciated!!

There is a rubber grommet and a clear lens that fits that hole opposite the bulb. The fiber optic line fits into that.
