I'm trying to find more information on the under dash brace rods for my 69 convertible. I've looked at the diagram on p. J50 in the ***'y manual, but my car has some significant differences, ie. the. #4 Bracket that's depicted...I don't have that. Maybe 4 out of 5 is not bad...
Sorry they're a little messy- gets that way when changing wiring harnesses. You kind of need to look close to see the support rods, but they were installed and no need for me to remove them. Bolt direction is also critical at the steering column support due to wire harness routing.

Hey your pictures are great can you provide a picture of the drivers side lower mount where it bolts to the car. I am currently working on one and dont see where they go.
So we need to know if you're working on an AC car or not. In the pictures above you will see that there is a Saddle Riveted on top of the Transmission Tunnel. Thats an AC Car. Non-AC cars did not have the Saddle. The Rods go in different directions for AC and non-AC. 1968's are a whole different world of their own.

Gale, the 68 had the saddle on both A/C and Non A/C. With that being said, I do not now how accurate the Assembly manual is here. This car is a non A/C car and has the bracket on the tunnel and could be an early 69. I had a pretty original 72 Conv and it was a non A/C car and it had the bracket on the trans tunnel as well as the brace that went across the backside of the dash pad. I honestly can't think of a Conv that I have worked on that didn't have the bracket. My 75 had it as well but it was an A/C car.
