Default 82 seats in a76

I have a 76 that someone else in stalled 82 seats. Don't know
what year the seat slides/railrs are. It appears they just drilled
a new hole through the seat pan for the front mount the rear
looks stock. Any help or info on this swap would help.

The holes didn't line up? Check that they are reinforced properly underneath. Do you have steel or fiberglass floors? You say 82, and perhaps they are, but they must not have a power seat base, or I dont think they can fit.

If they fit, and are installed correctly, what is your question? They are far more comfy than 76 seats.

My 80 clam shell seats fit perfectly in my 78 with zero modifications after I rebuilt them but they were manual 80 seats^^^^^^^^. The 78 Pace Car-82 seats are all the same.

The slide rails match the floor mounting holes fine its the seat pan to
the floor mounts. Not electric seats . Was told by previous owner seats were 82.
problem is seat pan front mounting holes to seat bottom rails just have a bolt sticking through
and i cant get a back up on them to properly tighten the nut they were only finger tight!
Any ideas on how to get the seat bottom out of the seat pan.

Post a picture of the seats... 1978 cars can have the later style buckets bolted into it... but the seat tracks and mounting holes on the 76 were different. Posting a picture would help ID what seats you have too..

Willcox.

The cushions I bought from Willcox^^^^^^^...100% leather and 4 inch bolsters...you can see they look great!

I found a great deal on the 80 seats for a pair locally for $200

Are these seats the same left-right like earlier seats?

79-82 seats (plus 78 Pace Car) are the same left to right. The rails are different in appearance where they bolt to the floor forward (the driver's seat has a hole in a small loop of metal, passenger seat has a larger flat pad). The hole rectangle is the same, and seats can easily be swapped left to right. Later seats with power adjustment bases only fit in the recessed floor pans, but the bases can be swapped out for manual rails. This may be what happened to the OP's seats.

Part one of more than you'll ever want to know about seat rails:

The drivers seat is the one on the floor with the big rip. These are my original 80 seats, now basement gaming chairs. In jb78L-82's image above, the (pre-refinishing) drivers seat is on the left, with the ripped bolster.

Correct...I actually used the passenger seat on the drivers side (I switched them after installing) due to the fact that my 78 L-82 4 speed gymkhana suspension had very few options and does NOT have a tilt steering column (see picture in previous posts but I did manage to source a tilt steering wheel when they used to make them for non tilt cars), nor power door locks, power windows, rear defroster, etc. To give my legs a fraction more room I switched the seats. My car had just the L-82, 4 speed, sport suspension aluminum rims, and AC..nothing else.

On my 75, I used the '75 tracks with a homemade spacer at the front where it bolts to the seat shell. Only mod to the seats was to trim underneath where the adjustment lever is. Grade 8 bolts from the pan to the rail. The go down at the back and up at the front.

To remove the bottom cushions, just pull up at the back. There are two clips there. There is also a wire hook assembly that hold the front down. Once you get one out, you will see how it goes back in.

Just to be clear your using 82 tracks on the 82 seats and they bolt
directly to mounting holes in floor of 76. I think my tracks are 76 bolted to
82 seat pan the drivers pan has had the adjuster cover trimed off. Still working on
pics.
