Default Power window relay question. SOLVED

1972 Vette. Both of my power windows stopped working at the same time, down unfortunately. In troubleshooting, I found Wilcox's diagram below (Thanks!) and everything was good up until the relay. I have voltage on E, voltage on D with the key on. No power on F terminal. I replaced the relay for good measure, cleaned the mount (sandpaper). Still nothing. One other thing I noticed is that if I measure voltage at the mount bracket on the relay, I have voltage there, too. That doesn't seem right to me. Is it? It's that way on the original and both replacements (yes, I got two). Any tips on where to go from here?

Thanks ahead of time!

The mounting of the relay needs to be grounded.

That's what I suspected. I'm assuming whatever grounding came loose.

I had the same issue - Checked relay as Wilcox stated and it worked - I added a ground wire from the little metal bar under the console to the metal plate behind the dash panel where the steering Colum bolts up. All good now

Got it. Grounded the mount and they’re working now. Thanks all.

Sorry to hijack an old thread. Troubleshooting my 68, and I've found that I have continuity from terminal D on the relay to the relay body. I'm assuming this is bad relay, right? It's a short circuit to ground! Anybody seen this failure before?
