Default 72 vette trailing arm lateral movement

Hi All,

Im putting new shims in the trailing arm of my 72 vette and am curious if there should be any lateral movement at the bushing end of the arm after shims are installed?
Advice??

No. Inner shim stack sets the toe. Outer stack fills space and keeps the arm tight.

There should be no lateral movement at the bushing. Now if you have the shims in place and stacked properly the bushing should not move left to right.

Some 25 years ago a vette shop changed my T/A bushings, and aligned them.....and so maybe 2 years ago I had the entire car aligned, and the back end was 'untouched' ....so question is, I was told the new bushings were urethane? not the OEM rubber.....does Urethane actually last this long?? not that many miles on it, but with these rough roads on this sandbar, I suspect they taken their abuse....
