82 vette ac problem
recently I purchased a 1982 vette that had working a/c. Around 1 month ago the a/c started to only blow out the side feet vents. No matter what setting it on it will only blow out the side feet vents. Anyone got any sugestion and where I should start looking for the problem. The car has had a slightly bad electrical history so far so that might even be the case. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Probably in the vacuum switch in the heater control or hoses are disconnected or misconnected. I don't have a vacuum diagram of an '82 and not sure if my '78 is the same. If you don't have one allready, get an Assembly Manual.
It'll have the vacuum diagram and many other answers you'll need later down the road.

It sounds like one of the air diverters is not opening. They are controled by the selector lever on the air control console. It switches the vaccum to the desired dirverter that in turn opens or closes the flaps that divert the air flow. A dirverter that is stuck or if the vaccum line is loose or disconnected would be my first inspection. Try looking under the dash on the passenger side.

I think you've got to check out what the guys have described above. It sounds strange because once the diverter valve opens from the distribution box, it channels cool air into both side vents and the top grille outlet simultaneously (and I guess what you're saying is that it is not coming out of these top outlets).
As I recall from my 78, (assuming the 82 is similar), there are no obstructions in the A/C ductwork...but that's a 78 configuration. That's why an assembly manual is helpful.
However, when you say it blows out the "side feet vents" do you mean the vents that ride on the top of the tranny tunnel? These serve as heat vents. So if this is the case...then you may have the diverter valve behind the heater box stuck, inoperable or vacuum source disconnected.
Take another look, be more specific and perhaps we can help you trouble shoot this thing.
