Default 77 L82 Battery Specs A

Hi folks, firstly i want to say thanks to the people who helped me out last time, greatly appreciated.
Now my 77 L82 won't start, no dash lights, nothing. So i'm assuming the battery is dead as the Battery is dated 2015. Now, it says 850 CCA on it , and i don't know if that is correct as i can't find any info in the Haynes Manual. Does anyone know the correct battery spec's ( so i can find a similar here in the UK ) for a 77 L82 with A/C and 4spd Manual. PS... aledgedly this 350cu is putting out 350bhp but i havn't been able to verify that. PPS.. Does anybody know a gentleman in Florida who sold his restored Dark Red, Buckskin interior 77 L82 to an English dealer who exported the car to the UK early last year. All i know about the gentleman is he shared a big garage with a mate and they worked on their cars together. I would love to be able to contact him to chat about our car. Yours gratefully for any help, Griffo

My starter did the same thing on the driveway . I thought it was the battery and found starter was wet from pan gasket leaking. Have it rebuilt those are heavy duty starters on the L-82 models. I have the same engine and year

When i went to put my car into storage it started up fine [ after a couple of weeks on the drive]. I returned to the car in storage, after 3 wks to start her and run her up for half hour when i discovered my problem. As i had NO lights on the dash i assumed the battery was flat. was yours the same. If the starter was dead wouldn't i have heard clicking and seen lights on the dash. Cheers Griffo

The starter and ignition had no sound when the starter went bad. I would try turning the lights on prior to starting for a minute. Then shut the lights off and turn the key on and if it starts bad battery. You can have the battery load checked but if it is older than the date you purchased it buy a new one If you find the starter is the problem have it rebuilt by a shop in your area that does nothing but rebuilds. them . The discount auto stores should be your last resort for it is a hit or miss with them Good Luck

Sometimes its as simple as the ground cable coming from the block to the frame by the starter has frayed and needs to be replaced.

Default found the problem

It happened again !!!!!!! Turned the key and NOTHING, no dash lights, no power... again!!!. So i have an intermitant problem. I swapped out the battery for a new one ( age unknown of the present one ) still nothing. So now i know its not the battery. working forward from there... the battery cables are good and the connections are good. the earth lead has good connection underneath the car. Next.... is there any current to starter..YES, But still no power to the ignition . so where does the power go after the starter but before the ignition. Well " hey ho" it goes to the alternator . TA DA... there's a broken wire in the loom , right where it clips into the metal loop attached to the back of the alternator, the clip has squashed the wire's and damaged one. I cut it, trimmed it back and put a connection in and she LIVE'S again. Problem found and repaired. Thanks for your replies , and iv'e put this up so that it might help someone else in the future Cheers
