Needing the expert advice of my fellow C3 compatriots.
I was getting ready to wrap my headers with titanium heat wrap and I went to look a little more closely at the engine and realized I may have a problem with my A/C. This is an aftermarket A/C from Vintage Air that I had installed 2 years ago. I do not see how I can attach the A/C bracket (2 bolts) with these headers. I bought the JB 1815S-1 - JBA Headers Cat4ward Headers.
If the seller of the headers doesn't have a product I would weld on a plate and then go BELOW the front header tube. Use some pipe/tube stubs to space it out from the heads where you need.
Let me find a picture of the bracket that I had when I had headers. I had to tweak it to fit when I went to RamHorns..... be back in a bit.
Here. For ideas. Hope I'm communicating adequately and making some sense. If you can see at the lower edge of the picture the a/c brackets "stands off" about 1.5" to 2" from the header flange. It used some tubes/pipes and then bolted onto the head to support the bracket and bolt down the headers.
When I went to the Ram Horns I got rid of the little tubes/pipes and tweaked the rear mount (ground down a little) so it would fit in the nook for the Ram Horns #3 bolt hole. I also installed new bolts at the same time.. could only find Grade 8, but they were just a skosh longer and would not bottom out anyway.
BUT --- you really got about the roughest style header to work around for the a/c bracket. If you haven't modified and/or otherwise altered them, then it might worth finding some other headers that will allow bolting the a/c in.... ALSO, I know you did not ask, but I would recommend getting coated headers instead of using wrap.
