I have my Ridetech suspension and Wilwood brakes installed on my 73.Now I'm looking at new tires and wheels.Going with Rocket Attack 18x10 with 5.00 backspace.I'm looking at Michelin Pilot Sport 285/40/18 run flats.Anybody have runflats on a C3.Don't want to use spare tire carrier.Any comments? Thanks Charlie.
You might be better off asking your question in the later model forums. From what I've read most replace their run flats with conventional tires when the run flats wear out, quoting better ride. I don't carry a spare on either of me C3s, but have towing insurance. T

I run Michelin Pilot Sport runflats on my 2004 C5. They are fantastic tires and MUCH more quiet than the Goodyears. I would buy them again in a heartbeat.

In my opinion run flats are more expensive, harder riding, and poorer handling. Work best on cars with tire inflation monitors because they are only good for 50 miles once deflated and on cars with suspension that has been tuned for them. I have a 66 and 68 with no spares in either but have towing insurance. Have had them on my 99.05,15 and wife's Caddy. Don't like them.
I would think the concern would be without a tire pressure monitor, how would you know when they're flat? I would guess if you run a run flat tire too long, it will come apart and I'm betting you've seen how a shredding tire tears up the fenders of a Corvette.
I don't use run flats on anything. Heavy and more expensive. I have not had a spare tire on my vette for the last 140,000 miles. Just get the ultra performance tires.
As said by others here, run flats ride harsher, don't hande as well, are heavy and more expensive. Their only existence is due to having no room for a spare. I have roadside assistance plus I carry a plug kit and a small compressor.
