Default Door spring installation tool
I need to install a new hinge spring on my 78. Is there a alternative tool to use other than the tool available in the parts catalog. Not that I am cheap, but I hate to purchase one for a one time install.

Bent screwdriver serves the same purpose. Comes in handy for lots of other stuff once it's in your tool box.

The tool is just a large bent screwdriver. Take an old screwdriver you already have, heat it with a torch and put a bend in it.

Yep. Old bent screwdriver worked great for me! In fact, I have a few around that were not bent on purpose.

I just used my medium size pry bar. It's already bent. Worked great.

A small crowbar as theandies shows or a 12" to 14" screwdriver with a 30* bend and a small hammer is all you need.
