Re: My new 80! (Tom DeWitt)
Tom I'm sure you 'll like your '80 very much.
After selling my '70 454 4 speed AC T-Top car, when the prices went through the roof, the '80 's were pretty reasonable so I bought a 46K car. I have only put 7K on it since '93. I really liked the body and it was a 95% car when I bought it, but it just wasn't like the '70 BB car.
I had owned several other vettes while I having the '70. I really liked the 80 - 82 body and didn't want a base coat clear coat paint after owning an '82 Collector. I also didn't want a computer based car again either so after all these deductions that left the 1980. It was actually very similar to the 1978 Silver Ann. I bought for my 25th birthday.
Anyway the '80 is a great car and I'm very happy with mine except for the performance part and that is being cured with a 385 Fastburn / TKO tremac 5 speed shortly. I think this new power source will help restore the punch I miss so badly from the '70 BBC.
As for the paint it's a quick-n-easy fix with the laquer and a little wet sand & buff. I also like having a few less electronics and much less requirements on the emissions test. I think I can make it pass with the new engine like others have done with the ZZ-4 in an '80 here on the forum, even though it's not required in my area yet.
I have a few extrta parts lying around and several manuals and wiriing diagrams, so if you need anything, just let me know. JIM :seeya
Nice picture Tom. If only we could have those beautiful fall colors in our area. :)
Wishing you a long and enjoyable aquaintance with your '80.
The longer I own my '80, the more I like it!
Interior/weatherstrip parts currently awaiting installation. Fresh paint coming relatively soon.
I'll trade ya for the 69! I didn't think so. The car runs perfect, has the factory rad and never gets hot. I didn't own it in the summer so we'll have to see how she does next year.
Nice. Looks just like my neighbor lady's old 80 (with NO2 :D ). I don't mean to be critical, but it looks like you could use a new rear spring to get the butt end up a little higher. Nice car though, an 80 will be my next purchase for sure. Got any more pics?
