Utilized the Shiftworks factory shifter conversion kit for installing a 700r in my 1981. Kit works great except struggling with the gear indicator. Placed the gear indicator overlay over the factory lens, but the gear indicator needle won't go below 3rd gear, the slot on the metal plate isn't long enough. Am I doing something wrong or am I missing something? Any suggestions? Gear indicator needle bottoms out in the slot.
Yes, installed the detention plate. As long as I take the shift indicator needle out, I can shift thru all the gears (1-OD). Once I put the needle back in, it hits and doesn't allow me to shift to lower gears. Obviously I want to use the indicator needle to keep track of what gear I'm in. I know lots of people switch transmission so there has to be a workaround. Thanks.
