Default Doug’s Headers/side pipes. Install WTF

1968 427 car

first - Doug’s headers are great quality and the header fit was spot on.

My my issue is mounting side pipes to the frame

has anyone done this. The hardware included (bolts with flange) seam too short to use. I do. It have the play to get them in the oval slots in the frame.
The mounting system is good but the bolts seam too short.

Is there a trick to this? Looking for comments from those who have installed this set.

thanks

It is a tricky operation. I insert the carriage head bolt into the slot in the frame, there maybe a flat washer next followed by a rubber grommet. I then loosely attach a nut to prevent the whole assembly from falling into the frame. Align the hole in the side pipe mounting tab over the bolt assembly. Remove the nut while holding onto the bolt, slide the next rubber grommet on, slide the next washer on and then put the nut back onto the bolt loosely. Repeat with the second bolt and then tighten the nuts..
