Default trailing arm poly bushing kit

I have a 1975 corvette--c3. How do you replace the TA bushings without removing the trailing arms?

You don't! You have to remove the trailing arms. I mean I guess you could try to just remove the trailing arm pivot bolt and pull the trailing arm back, but with it connected to the half shaft, shock, and struts, it would be an epic wrestling watch and not worth the battle.

Default trailing arm poly bushing kit

thanks for the reply Mike.
According to Vette Brakes, since I am using poly bushings and not rubber, they can be replaced with removing the arms.

I would suggest taking the arms off and use stock rubber bushings and not poly. The resr trailing arm bushings and strut rod bushings have to twist as well as rotate. IMO rubber is better for that than poly. Front control arms just rotate so poly wound be ok there.

You need to remove the arms. Do it right the first time (high-quality rubber or welded heim joints in that location), or do it twice.

Don't be afraid to use poly. They are sold by the millions. But some guys just don't like them, but that's normal.

As I have said before, don't use poly for trailing arms. I have replaced both sets from my 66 and 68 coupes. I have also replaced the bushings on two other cars. Check the C-2 forum for others who have had the same problems. The poly parts were purchased from different vendors. The good news is that it is easier to replace the bushings the second time. Jerry

Maybe to end the "for" or "against" poly argument, put rubber on one side and poly on the other.. Just kidding, of course. I have seen the poly bushing advertised in catalogs as being able to install without removing the training arm. I suppose if you have a winch pull the arm part way out you could do it, but it is sure easier to do correctly with the TA off the car.
